Weekly Recap 8/27/17-9/2/17, Game of Thrones and Bull Run

That Game of Thrones finale though! For those of you who have not watched it yet I will not give anything away. But all I can say is wow! It was satisfying in the way that just leaves you wanting more! And if you don’t think that feeling is possible I advise you watch this episode and then report back.

Sunday involved a two mile run prior to watching the Game of Thrones finale! It was a good shake out run. For those of you who read the previous weekly recap will remember that an intense leg day left me struggling to get my legs working! Sometimes those leg days can make you feel like your legs are stuck in cement.

By Monday my legs felt fully recovered from leg day! It felt great to get in a good 4 miles. It was a cool day and the humidity was not nearly as brutal as it’s been. This made for a great run.

Tuesday was for power lifting and taco’s. Currently I am in graduate school and I had class Tuesday afternoon into the evening. After class I felt exhausted, but I still motivated  to lift that night.

The strength training workout this past week was:

Deadlifts: 3 reps x45lb(warmup with bar), 3 reps x95lb, 3 reps x105lb, 3 reps x115lb and 1 rep x135lb

Leg lifts: 10 reps x55lb, 10 reps x45lbs, 10 reps x45lb

I really like deadlifts because when done properly it is such a great full body workout. It is important to use correct body mechanics when performing this exercise to maximize benefit while reducing risk of injury. If you are unfamiliar with this exercise I recommend working with a trainer first prior to attempting this solo.

On Wednesday and Thursday I worked. Both days were busy and I was on my feet non-stop. I am not sure if it can be considered a rest day if you are on your feet all day, but I am calling them rest days. Since I work 12 hour shift there are days when I just feel too exhausted to get the workout in; often I will consider these my rest days. It is still up for debate if that counts as a true rest day, but then I will use my days off for workouts and runs. This is my attempt to maximize the time that I have.

Friday was a nice 2 mile run at Bull Run, also known as Manassas National Battlefield Park. The run had a few hills and the uneven ground made it a challenging run. The scenery was beautiful though. I can’t believe it was cool enough outside that I was able to run in long sleeves. It’s early fall in Virginia! It normally doesn’t feel nice and cool like this!
