Happy Hump Day!
Last week was a doozy. I started off feeling completely run down, fighting off yet another viral illness (who gets sick in the summer?!) that left me with a sore throat, congestion and a horrible case of fatigue. I was feeling frustrated to no end that yet ANOTHER illness sidelined my usual training. I understand that working in health care I get exposed to individuals carrying viruses on a daily. But I have worked in healthcare for over 10 years and this last year I have been sick SO MUCH.
My guess is it is a combination of stress, feeling run down and a new job that I started 6 months ago. But, I will be glad when I can finally stay healthy for more than a month at a time.
Despite feeling run down I did my best to still get out and run. I did not complete my usual mileage; instead I listened to my body to see how far I could handle running.
Sunday 6/17: Today was slotted for 6 miles, but in my run down, viral stricken state I decided that 3 was more my style. So I ran those 3 mile, it didn’t kill me and I just relaxed for the rest of the day.
Monday 6/18: I typically always do cross training on Mondays. I will make adjustments to my workout depending upon how busy work is. Generally my goal is to get in about 30-40 mins of a quality workout! So today since I was still feeling a little run down I took time to do yoga. I love yoga so much for the stretching and strength components!
Tuesday 6/19: Normally on Tuesday I will run, but I decided to change it up. I was feeling so exhausted from work I just did a good little quality yoga session instead.
Wednesday 6/20: Just a quick easy 3 miles today!
Thursday 6/21: More cross training!
Friday 6/22: Rest Day. Rest days are so important. Don’t ever forgot that!
Saturday 6/23: Long run Saturday! I finally hit the double digits with my long run. It was challenging, but I got those 10 miles done.
Towards the end of the week I finally was feeling back to myself. And I was so grateful I was able to get that 10 miler in. It is something I have been working towards for a while and while I know I still have a long way to go; it also shows how far I have come
I hope everyone has a good week! Go chase those goals!
