Happy Hump day!! Finally getting this weekly recap out. Who else has watched stranger things yet? That is basically what Adam and I spent doing last weekend. This season has knocked it out of the ball park. Easily my favorite season so far. Now I will be waiting impatiently for the next season to be released.
While Stranger Things was maybe the highlight of my week, I also had a bunch of other fun activities. Including celebrating America’s Birthday and getting in another double digit long run.
Monday 7/1: Cross training.
Tuesday 7/2: I skipped my run today because I was so tired. Much needed rest day!
Wednesday 7/3: 4 miles with a little speedwork thrown in. I didn’t exactly do the entire speed work session I was suppose to do. It ended up getting too hot and I pooped out on the last set of sprints. Considering the conditions though the run went well.
Here is the speedwork session if you want to give it a try:
- 2 mile warm up
- 4x2min at 8:38 pace with 1 min recovery jog
- 4x1min at 8:38 pace with 30 sec recovery jog
- 4x30min at 7:57 pace with 2 min recovery jog
- 2 mile cool down
Thursday 7/4: Happy 4th of July! Since I didn’t have to work on the 4th I figured I would sneak another run in for the week. After a not so successful speed work the before I was debating on giving speed work another shot. However, after talking to my coach we decided an easy run would be a better idea. I woke up early in the morning for an easy 4 mile run.
After getting a run in we got ready for some fun 4th of July activities. We drove over to Great Meadows for some fun activities, picnicking and drinking. The weather didn’t hold up though and it rained before the fireworks could start, so we left early. But that was okay because we ordered pizza and watched the first episode of Stranger Things!
Friday 7/5: Rest day. It was back to work today after having two days off. It was soooo hard to go back and the day was horribly busy. I haven’t been the happiest at my job, but that is a story for another day.
Saturday 7/6: 10 mile long run. I woke up extra early to get my long run in before the heat of the day set in. By the end of the run the heat index had already reached well into the 90’s. So painfully hot!! I will not be upset when it decides to cool off a little. If anything please could the humidity ease up! I can live with the heat, its just that humidity that is killer.
Sunday 7/7: 5 mile run easy pace. Another hot run, it was brutal.
Total Weekly Miles: 23.2
